As I always said time and time and again…, I loveee meat!
:D:D Especially when it comes in steak form.
There’s always something about the ground and Smokey flavor that makes
me crave for more.
Today is Sunday, Church day! And we usually have some nice
dinner after. And this small street restaurant called Skipjack is one of my
favorite cheap steaks of all in town! It sits right in front of Stadion
Bulungan, in the Cosmo supermarket parking lot, just next to Yoshinoya. Not too
fancy, small but quite nice and cozy. Since it’s a “Warung Steak Jepang” so the
place ambiance and menu, “scream” all over about Japanese style, steak and
Japanese flavor..?! Love!
It’s my second visit
here, I was impressed with the sauce and side dish but couldn’t quite enjoy it
coz I had tummy cramp at that time. And I expect (still) the best Smokey flavor
in my mouth on my second attempt. My favorite cut of steak is always been
Sirloin, because of the layer of fat all around the meat chunk (oh forget
diet..what diet?!?). Here they serve only limited cut of steak Sirloin,
Tenderloin and Rib Eye from NZ and US the price range from Rp 75.000 – 230.000,
it a fair price considering what served on your plate. What so good about this
place is, your’re not gonna get just some regular steak with BBQ or mushroom
sauce. They have variety of sauce, Japanese style of course that really mouth
watery! There 4 style of sauce: BBQ Classic, Mushroom, Chimichury ( it’s
basically mix of finely chop garlic, parsley, oregano, olive oil top with white
or red wine) and Wasabi Butter (this is the star sauce). Although Wasabi Butter is the star (must
admit it quite delicious) but I’m just not into wasabi, so my pick is always BBQ
classic sause and Chimmichury coz I just love the acid on my steak dancing with
the classic BBQ all together melt in my mouth…yuuummm…You can choose max 2
sauce at the time.
And the oomph factor of all is the side dish, Green Japanese
Salad (boiled Japanese spinach with balsamic and soy sauce top with sesame
seeds)…oowh…that warm smokey ground taste so refreshing to balance out the fat
from the steak. For side dish you also get to choose two dishes, mine is this
heavenly Green Salad and French Fries (I know boring right?) but that’s the way
I like it. And I order Coca-Cola with
ice for drink, it’s almost religiously, every time I eat steak I always drink
coke on ice, somehow between the soda and caffeine in it just neutralized the
fat and pack flavor in my mouth.
Not more than 15 minutes, my plate is already empty…all gone
in my happy tummy…! And it is still the same as the first time I taste
it…..believe it or not, you better not (want) to skip on Skipjack!
